April 2010 News Letter.
St Georges Day Parade and
Service Sunday 25th
April.
Traditionally
the main event of the Bedford District Scout association is the St
George’s Day Parade in Bedford. The Parade starts at Bedford School
with a short service and then all the Scout Groups in Bedford parade
through the town to Harpur Square.
The
event starts with muster in the Bedford School playing fields at 2pm.
At 2.15pm everybody will enter the main hall where a short service
takes place. Parents are welcome. After the service the Scouts, Cubs
and Beavers parade through the town ending at Harpur Square at 4pm.
Parents need to be at Harper Square at 4pm to collect their children.
For Further details see notice board. Uniforms please as smart as
possible.
Annual Subscription or Capitation Fee:
For
those of you who have not yet paid, this year’s subscription of
£30.00 is now due. At the start of each calendar year we are
required to pay a capitation fee to the Central Scout Association to
cover their HQ, County and District structures. This
year’s cost is £30.00 for each scout/cub/beaverwho was formally invested by 31st January
2010. This is the first increase for 3 years. We
would be grateful if you could make out a cheque, payable to ‘Great
Barford Scout Group’ and put in an envelope with your child’s
name on it. If you have any queries on this please telephone our

New Beaver Leader
Emma Whiterod is to take over as beaver
leader from Mo Lockhat. Mo will continue with the group as an
assistant Beaver leader. The group would like to thank Mo for all his
hard work.

Get Involved
An early mention: you might start
considering joining the committee at the next AGM on 13th
May 2010. There will be a prise giving on that night. We will also
need new leaders and Helpers.
