A Big thanks you to all those who took part in the Remembrance Day Service in Great Barford on Sunday November 08th 2009. The parade began at the High Street opposite the Post Office and ended at the Parish Church with a short Service in the Garden of Remembrance.

Parent Helpers.

Please speak to your group leader if you are interested in being a parent helper. We would like to get more parents involved in the group as well as give more support to our leaders. Many thanks to any parents who have helped. CRB checks are needed for regular helpers but casual occasional helpers don’t need CRB if the leader is present.

Subs.

A polite general reminder about payment- £12 per term, cheques payable to Great Barford Scout Group, this or cash in an envelope clearly marked with the child's name. We would also like to welcome new members. The annual capitation fee is due at the end of January.

Scouts

The Scouts had a very successful Car Wash event on Saturday 28th in Aid of Children in Need. This raised £165 for children in need. Ilham made loads of wonderful cakes.

Amanda Grimly has joined as an assistant leader and has been a great help in getting the Scouts off the ground.

The Scouts are planning a summer expedition for next year. The Scouts were given a choice of a week Camp (Jamboree) or a canal trip. The Scouts choose the canal trip. This is likely to be around the Warwick ring.

Cubs

This Term the Cubs have played games indoors and out. The Cubs went to church to make the Christ ingles which the boys always enjoy doing. Whilst at the church Melissa invested three more boys in the very cold Church.

The Cubs currently have 18 boys. Melissa does not want any more until she has a new reliable leader. The Cubs currently have one Mum and one Dad parent helper who help regularly. Melissa would like to thank them for their help it is very much appreciated.

The Cubs have had a great year. All thanks to Jo, Julie and Melissa for all their hard work.

Jo Genovese is leaving the Cubs for now, due to other commitments. We would all like to thank her for all the hard work over the years and wish her all the best!

Beavers

The Beavers have been busy doing Christmas decorations and are currently doing badge work. They are working towards their home help and Fitness badges. They have been doing lots of art work including fantastic Christmas trees.
